Collaborative Mascot Mural

High school and 8th grade art students started off the year with a collaborative mural based on the cobra logo. Each student had a small square of a gridded grayscale copy for reference. First they had to enlarge the small piece onto a 6 inch square and then chose a color scheme with 3 analogous colors (side by side on the color wheel) and followed a plan to add color. Anything that was black on the original copy became a solid color, anything that way gray was filled in with a dense pattern, and anything that was white was filled in with a sparse pattern.
The small sections look really cool on their own but they come together to make something that would have been really difficult to do alone. Working together, we made a really colorful paper mural to brighten up the hallway until we get some bigger projects completed.

Meet Mrs.Morris

Hello! My name is Mrs.Morris and I am so excited to be your art teacher.

I graduated from Emporia State University in 2009 with a BSE in Art for PreK-12th grade and I am currently working on my Master's degree in Art Education through the University of Nebraska at Kearney, expecting to graduate in Fall 2016. After teaching for 6 years in the Auburn-Washburn school district, I was thrilled at the opportunity to teach a wider range of students and do it closer to home.

I grew up in Holton and married my high school sweetheart in 2007. We now have two imaginative, energetic children and a black lab named Boo.

I am not just an art teacher, I am a working artist. I think it is important for me to practice what I preach. I can never pick just one kind of art to focus on. I create mostly two dimensional art- paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, etc.- but I am looking forward to working with clay in class this year.

Until we get some student artwork finished and published, here are some pictures of mine!
